    Kuru Kuru thogaiye.. Kurunthogaiye

     isai
    Naan pogiren mele
    Singers : SPB, Chitra
    MD : James vasanthan
    Film : Naanayam

This is a simple n catchy tune from James. I am hearing the combo of SPB and Chitra after a long time [ the best is ‘Thoda thoda’ — Indira ]. SPB with his ageless voice gives us one more soothing duet song and James is brilliant in selecting the apt voices for the song [ otherwise we might have ended with one more pair of new singers :) ]. Remember, the torturous days where SJanaki used to sing in a childish voice  [ என்ன‌ ஒரு விப‌ரீத‌ம் ! ].  Nowadays, kids sing like SJanaki [ Adaadaa :) ].The minor flaw in the song is that resembles James’s previous work ‘Oru vetkam varudhe’ and ‘Poovukkul’ song from Jeans — though I don’t know what difference it could make to write about this resemblence !

    Thiru Thiru
    Singers : Karthik and Rita
    MD : Manisharma
    Film Thiru Thiru Thuru Thuru

The way I got this song is interesting than the song [ சொல்லித் தொலை :) ]. I just heard the ending in FM once and I couldn’t figure out what the song was — I just heard some catchy music and the words ‘Kuru Kuru’. Today, I happened to listen the same song in FM and got this. The violin music is really fresh — it’s like the violins in Titanic party song. I always admire Manisharma — Check out his work in Shahjahan [ Melliname Melliname ]. The manly voice of Karthk adds a rustiness to the song [ Nendhukitten song was first mark ].The song has the base from ‘Dating’ song in Boys — nothing remarkable in saying this resembling the other one buts just a thought. A simple peppy song !

2 Songs which are slightly old..

    Unnai kandene
    Singers : Haricharan, Sruthi
    MD : Dharan
    Film : Parijaadham

It’s like a great tune ‘Vaseegara’ from Harris. The first film of Dharan had this very catchy tune pattern and it is Unnai kandene. It starts with a lightning and it’s a rain song [ Not the Telugu Chiranjeevi/Balakrishna types :) ]. You feel the rain effect in the beginning and then Shruthi’s relaxing voice. Interesting voices and rendering by Shruthi and Haricharan — duo majorly used with MDs like Dharan and Joshua Sridhar. This song doesn’t fit under regular pattern and it’s tough to reproduce. This smooth and pleasing number got some beautiful lyrics too.

    Siru Thodudhalile
    Singers : Haricharan, Bombay Jayashree
    MD : Dharan
    Film : Laadam

The piano and flute in the beginning confirms the goodness of the song. It’s effectively carried by the sparkling voice of Bombay Jayashree [ Haricharan just accompany her ]. The elongated rendering is beautiful with some of the words in the lyrics. Listen when Bombay Jayashree asks “Naan unakena iruppen theriyadha” [ யார் மேட‌ம்.. என்னையா கேட்டீங்க‌..:) ] — very well expressed. Happy to see youngsters giving melodies with some space to listen to the lyrics — there was a black period in Tamil cineme where sound dominated music to a great extent.

I recommend actual CD audio quaality of these songs in a bigger system for the best experience. Happy listening

    1. Thanks for your perspective on such melodious songs.i have heard about –thiru, thiru, thuru, thuru– as a good film which lost out because it was not publicised like sun pictures’s releases..will check out the songs now that my family is out of station and i have monopoly of the TV …i liked Hari charan’s songs right from Kaadhal. he has a good voice.there r so many nice singers these days that it is quite difficult to identify their voices unlike SPB, Malaysia, Deepan.C, SN Surendar, Seerkazhi’s son who had a unique style.

i can pick out Harish Raghavendra easily and karthik to some extent but the most versatile of the lot Thippu amazes me with his range and surprises me every time.. in the female singers list, i can only pick out Suchi, rest all sound so similar.……, even rare songs of Nithya sree, Bombay Jayashree , sudha dont sound different to me other than some idea that this is a trained and classical voice…

    2. Thanks Rajan.. You are right. Of course, the variey of voices we have is amazing. It’s good to see more talents coming in.

    3. Naan pogiren mele — Closely heard this song. More then the lyric pronciation how much efforts singers give importance to feel of the song which was amazing in this song.

As you rightly said choice of singers was good or we should say no other better choice.

    4. DP..

Pinna.. Avar producer aache :) . Just kidding and what yousaid is very true.
